Family Photos |
It's easy to tranform your family photos into heirlooms, passed down to future generations. Our gallery wrapped canvases are expertly constructed, and produced with archival products that will long outlast your teenager's rebellious years and your toddler's tantrums.
Choose a size just right for the mantle, or one to encompass the whole living room wall. A family canvas also makes a great gift for proud grandparents; we can even print and mount multiple copies - perfect for Christmas presents for every family member (plus you'll get a volume discount)!
PICKING THE PERFECT GIFT
It's always more fun to receive a creative, personal gift than a generic one. And it's usually just as much fun for the gift giver to pick out a really special, meaningful present.
There are plenty of ways you can figure out the best art-related gift to give. You might have the subject picked out - your lovely, smiling faces - but you still need to pick the best display option for their individual personality and decor:
- What is their decor like? If they enjoy a lot of delicate wallpapers and pastel colors, you might want to go for a classic family photo, with everybody facing the camera and smiling sweetly. Is their decor edgy and modern, with bright, bold walls? How about that silly shot the photographer grabbed where everyone is making funny faces?
- Has the person mentioned an area they wish was better decorated, or a color scheme they're planning? If they are regretful of a certain blank wall, try to sneak a measurement so you can order the print in the perfect size.
- If they live far away and you haven't seen their home, talk to friends and family who have (and get yourself invited)! Maybe that regular guest knows about upcoming renovations, an empty space above the couch just begging for a shot of the grandkids, or a certain important family group that's missing in the rest of the house.
- Don't forget to think about the presentation. Do they tend to go big or small? You don't want to present someone who enjoys tasteful 18x24" images with a massive 4 foot by 6 foot canvas. Do they already have a number of unframed canvases hanging around the house? If so, you might choose to stick with that style, or pick out one of our beautiful canvas floater frames to accompany the print.
- If you don't have access to the perfect image, or for any other reason you're unable to select a canvas print or frame, why not let them pick their own, on you! We offer Gift Certificates in custom denominations. We can send the recipient the code via email, or print a physical certificate and mail it straight to them!
Whatever your budget, or relationship with the recipient, when you put real thought into your gift, your efforts will be recognized and appreciated.

HISTORY OF FAMILY PORTRAITS
It wasn't until around the turn of the 20th century that "regular" people (meaning those who weren't incredibly wealthy) could afford to get family photos. With the advent of smaller cameras, more people could afford to purchase them, driving down the cost of family portraiture.
Around the 1930s, the installment of the paid holiday allows for families to get away to the seaside and other fun vacation spots. With this came the rise of less formal family pictures. Gone were the stoic, serious faces, rigid postures and just-so arrangement. More "authentic" or natural poses grew in popularity.
Today, nearly everyone has a camera, at least attached to their phone. Not surprisingly, family photos are very popular, though many people opt for a tripod and timed shutter in lieu of hiring a professional.
